John retired as a plant manager at Grede/Westinghouse Foundry in Greenwood, South Carolina. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. John was a member of the American Legion Post 309, in Maple Heights and Parkland Golf Course, in South Carolina, where he achieved two holes-in-one.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Julia L. (Smelko) Klotz; dear children, Jean (Richard) Epley, Jim (Mary) Klotz and Janet (Scott) Carter; his loving grandchildren, Lee and Tracy Epley and Chrystal and Tammy Klotz; and his sister, Marge Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Walter and Edward Klotz; and his sister, Rose Smolenak.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M., Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, December 9, 2013, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman. Please meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 9, 2013.
