Russell W. Ranftl, 72, of Hinckley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born July 3, 1941, to the late Russell P. and Julia (nee Karcher) Ranftl in Cleveland.
Russell retired as an operating engineer for Local 18. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a long-time member of the Euclid Hunting and Rifle Club.
He will be dearly missed by his loving children, R. Scott Ranftl, Laura (David) Szahler and Cherie (Greggory) Morgan; treasured grandchildren, Jessica, Jared, Christopher, Hannah and Emma; sister, Joan (Don) Skalak; brother, William (Diane) Ranftl; niece, Patricia; great niece, Violet; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his former wife, Judy and grandsons, Jonathan and Caleb.
Family will receive friends Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 East Washington Street, Medina, with Father Lee officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Medina.
