James “Jim” W. Massie, 77, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Hospice of Medina. He was born March 31, 1936 in Lodi, to Clyde and Mildred Johnson Massie and resided in Medina County for most of his life.
Jim worked at Medina Door for 36 years until it closed and moved to New Carlisle, Indiana. He worked for Mohawk Door of South Bend, Indiana until his retirement and then worked for the Village Shoppes in New Carlisle, Indiana. He was an avid golfer and left a lot of golfing buddies in New Carlisle. He was also a big NASCAR fan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (nee Masters); daughters, Pamela Rousch of St. Cloud, Florida, Patti (Jim) Calhoun of Massillon; sons, Greg (Janet Garberich) Massie of Homerville, Tom Massie of Medina, Brian (Kelly Broadsword) Massie of Spencer; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Sandra (Boe) Williams of Douglas, Georgia; and uncle, Clyde Johnson of Chatham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Paul and Eleanor Masters.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 11, 2013, 1 P.M., at the Spencer Baptist Church, 302 West Main Street, Spencer. Pastor Jeff Mullett will officiate. Burial will follow at Mallet Creek Cemetery in York Township. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
