Jennie Mae Halblaub

Jennie Mae Halblaub, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2013 and she is now with her beloved husband, Kenneth. Jennie, a descendent of the original Hinckley settlers, was born in Hinckley and spent her entire life in the Medina County area.

She loved to bake, cook and go camping. Her cookies and pies were always in demand. She had many friends and always looked forward to family gatherings.

In her younger years she ran a restaurant in Brunswick and was also a civilian plane spotter during World War II. After moving to Medina, she first worked for Grants and then the Medina School System. She lived at Jefferson Point for several years, had many friends, and was the official cookie baker for her neighborhood. She then moved to Plum Creek Senior Living in June of this year and received loving care.

Jennie leaves her brother, Lawrence Ritz (Renee) of Spencer; nieces, Rebecca Stitizel (William) of Wooster, Mary Tamba (John) of Medina and Leslie Leohr (Douglas) of Sharon Center; and many great nieces and nephews throughout the country.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sister, Ruth; and her parents, Alice and George Ritz.

We will celebrate her life and receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M., Friday, December 13, 2013 at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Interment to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Remsen Christian Church, 1500 Remsen Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
