John P. Swagler, 79, of Seville, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Altercare of Wadsworth. He was born April 18, 1934 in Seville, to Paul and Ada (Eby) Swagler.
He attended Seville School and graduated from Staunton Military Academy in 1952. Associated with his father in the family’s plumbing and heating business for many years, John was also an over-the-road trucker and retired from Virmurco. Passionate about Allis Chalmers, he took pleasure in retirement in repairing farm machinery and restoring old tractors. John was a long time member of the Lions Club.
John married Kathleen (Miller) Swagler on June 16, 1956, and she survives along with daughters, Christine (Jim) Sullivan of Cuyahoga Falls and Cheryl (Marshall) Brown of Greenville, South Carolina; beloved grandchildren, Lexie Swagler, Bonnie and Travis Brown; and a brother, Jack Swagler of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan Jarvis.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Seville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Donald Trigg officiating. A family interment services will be held at Seville Mound Hill Cemetery at a later date. Friends will be received Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Murray Funeral Home, Creston.
