William H. Kemmett, 89, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was born May 25, 1924, to the late William and Ivy (nee McClintock) Kemmett in Cleveland.
William retired from General Electric after 35 years as a service man. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during WWII, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge, numerous Bronze Stars, three Purple Hearts and the Knight of the Legion of Honor Medal from France. William enjoyed visiting Las Vegas, fishing in Canada and was a founding member of the Brunswick VFW Post 9520, a life member American Legion Post 234 and the Purple Heart Association.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Sandra (Donald) Hansinger, Sharon (Maury) Hernandez and Tina (Thomas) McIntosh; and grandsons, Kevin and John Hansinger, Eric and Steve Hernandez; sisters, Kathleen Zavesky; and brother, Patrick Kemmett.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marian, and eight brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Waite and Son Funeral Home, Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick. Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home, with Allen Alexander officiating. Burial with honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
