Jarrell L. “Jerry” Jarvis

Jarvis_JarrellJarrell L. “Jerry” Jarvis, 76, of Creston, died peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, following a brief illness. Jerry was born July 23, 1937 in Milo, West Virginia, to the late Woodie and Bernice (Lynch) Jarvis.

He married Carol A. Baker on June 7, 1957 and she survives.

He was a 1955 graduate of Seville High School and had been a partner for 18 years in Wilson and Jarvis Insurance Agency and later worked for David E. McIlvaine, Inc., before retiring from KelCorp in Creston. He had also worked at the Seville Mound Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Canaan Free Will Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Seville, where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Couples Club of Seville and the Wayside Market Senior Advisory Board. Jerry enjoyed being a Mr. Fix-it and remodeling homes. He had made his home in Seville most of his life, moving to Creston in 1991.

Surviving are his wife, Carol; his three children, Lucinda (Greg) Eby of Lodi, Randy (Tina) Jarvis and Brent (Audrey) Jarvis, both of Creston; five grandchildren, Heath Eby, Kayla (Russ Hinds) Jarvis, Joshua Jarvis, Aubrey Jarvis and Wyatt Jarvis; sisters and brothers, Mavis Drake and Garnet (Bill) Starkey, both of Wadsworth, Donald “Pete” (Judy) Jarvis of Lake City, Florida, Jean (Bob)Yeater of Big Prairie, Dave (Nancy) Jarvis of Seville and Ronda (Bob) Beard of Worthington; a sister-in-law, Peggy Woodrum of Doylestown; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Danny Jarvis; and an infant brother, James.

Service will be Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 11 A.M., at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. James McComas and Travis McKenzie officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
