For longtime Medina resident Kim Perkins, 61, her childhood memories of the town square remain precious.
“There was always a band concert on Friday nights, and we used to go up there,” she recalled. “They had a fish pond in the center of the square. In junior high school, we congregated around the fish pond on Friday nights.”
She also conveyed fond recollections of Bechtel’s drugstore soda fountain, sweets from Tony’s Candy and the lines of customers that formed outside Ziegler’s Department Store during the annual Presidents’ Day sale.
“The square was a warm, welcoming, cozy place, and people still feel that,” Perkins added. “Memories are everywhere.”
