Sam M. Miller, 72, went peacefully into eternity with his family by his side, Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home in Spencer. He was born in Millersburg March 27, 1941, to Gros Jean Mose and Mattie Troyer Miller.
Sam retired from GM in 2000. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with the family, gardening and fishing. Sam was raised Amish and moved away from his family life at age 17. He was always welcome on the family farm in Fredricksburg, and visited often.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Ginny) to whom he was married for 51 years; daughters, Melynda (Lynn) and husband, Dan, Daralene (Dodie), Samantha (Jojo); nine grandchildren, Nathan, Timothy, Paul, Luke, Hannah, Dustin, Austin, Jessica and Shawn; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Riley; brothers, Vernon, Joe, Ray, Ervin, Albert and Jonas; and sisters, Annie, Lydia, Susie, Dala and Katie. He is also survived by many family members and very close friends
He was preceded in death by his father, Gros Jean Mose and mother, Mattie; and sisters, Mary and Effie.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 7, 2014, at 1 P.M., at the Spencer United Methodist Church, 201 East Main St. Spencer. Pastor Brad Kelley will officiate. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer.
