A lover of life, Venette remained active in bowling, golf, sewing, and family, and worked around her friends at Wal-Mart until last year, completing 10 years of service. Her strength never wavered and her sense of humor remained throughout, but what was always most apparent was her undying love for husband, children, and grandkids. Whether or not you knew Venette, she was never a stranger for long, and you knew you were better for knowing her.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald R. Powell; six children, Teri Allen of Bathgate, Scotland, Steve Powell of Medina, Ann Powell (Dave) Gee of Medina, Paul (Shonda) Powell of Reno, Nevada, Jason Powell of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Angela Powell of Sharon, Pennsylvania; as well as 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind brothers, Eugene (MaryLou) Voelk and Chuck (Linda) Lindquist.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn; and her brother, Larry; as well as her parents.
Visitation will be offered Friday, February 14, 2014, 6 until 8 P.M., at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court St, Medina. A Memorial service will be held at St. Pauls’ Episcopal Church, 317 E. Liberty St., Medina, on Saturday, February 15, 2014, 3:30 P.M., with a gathering afterward in the parish dining room.
Venette, you will be missed. Your light will always shine bright in our hearts!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
