Donald R. Taylor

OBIT FLAGDonald R. Taylor, 77, of Litchfield Township, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014, at Medina General Hospital, after a 25 year battle with MS, with his family by his side. Don TaylorDonwas born in Northfield, November 10, 1936, to Alfred and Ruth (nee Maltby) Taylor.

He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1954, where he was a remarkable athlete in all sports. He currently holds a second place record in Medina County for four touchdown receptions in a single game, the 1953 Brunswick versus Seville game. He was also an avid fisherman and cabinet maker. He retired in 1989 from Medina City Schools, where he worked as a custodian. He served his country from 1956-1958, in the U.S. Army, overseas in Germany and France in the 79th Engineering Battalion and then in the Army Reserves until 1962, when he was honorably discharged.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (nee Reutter) of 55 years; children, Mike Taylor, Sharon (Rick) Baker, Judy Lanier and James (Lisa) Taylor; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Marge Study; and brother, David (Marcia) Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred and Robert; and his granddaughter, Kelli Baker.

Friends may join the family for visitation Monday, February 17, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick. Inurnment will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 1:30 P.M., at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman, (Please meet at the cemetery).
