Two women killed after car hits house in Homer Twp.

HOMER TWP. — Two people died after the car they were traveling in went off-road and struck a house.

The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that killed 58-year-old Doris Williams and her passenger, 53-year-old Rosemarie Kinney, both of West Salem.

The patrol reported that the crash happened about 4:20 p.m. Saturday. According to the patrol, Williams’ 2000 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling northbound on state Route 301, also known as Spencer Road, and went through a stop sign.

The vehicle then went off the left side of the road where it hit a mailbox, and eventually struck the south wall of the house at 9010 Spencer Road.

Williams and Kinney both died at the scene.

A trooper said Williams was wearing her seatbelt, but Kinney was not.

There was structural damage to the wall of the house, but no one inside was injured, according to the patrol, which said it is investigating whether drugs or alcohol was a factor.
