BRUNSWICK — State auditors announced Brunswick Schools had clean books during the past year and honored the district with the Auditor of State Award on Thursday.
Brunswick is the third school district in Medina County to be honored with the award this year — Black River and Wadsworth also received the award.
In the audit, Brunswick Schools were evaluated on the last fiscal year, which ended June 30. Since 1996, the district only had one audit returned with a finding for recovery, in 1999.
About one-third of school districts in the state receive the award. According to the auditor’s office 198 schools out of 610 received the award in 2013.
