David William “Farmer Dave” Kruggel

David William “Farmer Dave” Kruggel, 76, of Amherst, Virginia, stepped into the arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. He was the son of the late Paul W. and Roberta Starr Kruggel of Litchfield.

He grew up on Kruggel Farms in Litchfield, Ohio, which he managed for approximately 30 years. When he retired from the farm in 2005 and moved to Virginia, he drove a semi-truck for Englander Transport, Inc. of Monroe, Virginia. He was also an amateur pilot and flew small planes at every opportunity.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Amherst, Virginia and bravely spoke about his personal savior, Jesus Christ, to anyone who would listen. He was very generous and giving, never expecting anything in return. He was truly a man after God’s heart and will be missed by all who knew him.

He will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Agnes Bradley Biggs Kruggel; sons, Bradley G. Biggs, J. Mark Biggs (Karen), Matthew B. Biggs (Lori), Brian K. Biggs (Terri), Timothy D. Kruggel (Nicole) his daughter, Darlene Brooks (Tom); 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brothers, John Kruggel (Celia) and Tome Kruggel; his sister, Mary Ann Kratzer and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, Amherst. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, February 21, 2014 in the funeral home.
