John E. Radvansky, 67, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at home, from a rare cancer. John was born May 17, 1946 at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, to his late parents, Julia (Kubin) and Andrew Radvansky, Jr., of Lakewood.
John attended Fenn College, which became Cleveland State University, before starting his 48+ year career at General Motors Corporation as a die maker, and held a variety of managerial positions with them, once traveling to Turin, Italy for an Italian designed model. He was presented the prestigious “Boss” Kettering Award by General Motors’ President/CEO and Chairman for an invention that has become an automotive industry standard, the first submission by Parma’s Pressed Metal Division.
His volunteer activities include serving as a director on a home owners’ board, a member of Brunswick Marching Band’s equipment crew and as his son’s cub master. He helped his wife’s volunteerism as communications chair of ISA Cleveland Section and photographer at Cleveland Technical Societies Council’s annual scholarship and awards events.
John was the very beloved husband of 48 and a half years of Harriet Anne (Kirk) Radvansky; proud father of Julia Lynn Jewel (Doug), Todd Adam Radvansky Kirkpatrick (Maria); loving grandfather of Samantha Kevynn Jewel and Jacquelyn Brooke Jewel; stepgrandfather of James Stewart, Jr.; stepgreat-grandfather of Kacey Lauren Stewart; and younger brother of Robert A. Radvansky (Mauricia). He is also survived by his godchildren, Heather Atkins (Sandy), Shawn Kinas, Brandon Kinas (Pam), Alexander Walter Kirk; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his infant son, James Adam Radvansky; and his parents.
Friends and family may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, February 28, 2014, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. The funeral service will be held at Brunswick United Methodist Church, 4356 Center Road, Brunswick, at 11 A.M., Saturday, March 1, 2014, with Reverend Thomas Shaw officiating. Gather with the family at the church after 10 A.M.
