Police officer in critical condition after Liverpool Twp. crash

LIVERPOOL TWP. — A 43-year-old North Olmsted police officer remains in critical condition following a head-on crash early Saturday morning on Station Road, according to the Medina post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jack A. Justice, a 14-year veteran patrolman who lives in Liverpool Township, was struck shortly after midnight while driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound on Station Road, north of Grafton Road.

Reports said Dalton P. Phillips, 23, of Columbia Station, was northbound on Station Road when he lost control of his 1992 Dodge Ram pickup in a curve and went off the east side of the road, overcorrected and went left of center crashing into Justice’s car.

Phillips’ truck went off the west side of the roadway, striking a ditch and overturned.

Phillips sustained serious injuries and was transported to Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, where he was reported in good condition Sunday evening.

Justice was flown by helicopter to Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital and was reported in critical condition Sunday.

Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the Valley City Fire Department assisted on scene.
