John Ladrew Stine

John Ladrew Stine died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at his home in Buda, Texas. John was born May 12, 1931, to Lawrence and Thelma Stine, in Homerville Township, Medina County.

He was a graduate of Homer High School. Growing up, John was a self-starter and very active in church and the 4-H Club. As a young man, he served honorably as a Specialist 3 in the United States Army. John liked to tell folks that he held 27 jobs in his career. He retired from his last position with the Texas Employment Commission in 1993. John counted many people as friends, but cherished, most of all, his brothers and sisters in Christ, at Manchaca United United Methodist Church in Texas. He found many ways to serve but especially connected with the adult choir and his beloved clown ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Nathan; brother, Robert Stine and wife, Reina; and sisters, Winnie Salmon and Virginia Cartwright and husband, Maynard.

The family would like to thank Hospice Austin for the excellent care given to John, with special thanks to Estella, Barbara, Kimber, Brian and Chaplain Heather. Nurses Case Managment also provided a wonderful personal caregiver, Dell, who gave John and the family his devoted care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation, in John’s memory, to the Manchaca United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 460, Manchaca, TX 78652 or Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd., Ste. 100, Austin TX 78759.
