Lloyd E. Naragon

Naragon_LloydLloyd E. Naragon, 104, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Medina. Lloyd was born October 9, 1909 in Loyal Oak, Ohio to the late Reverend E.E. and Edna (Weaver) Naragon. He graduated from high school in Kenton, Ohio, received a B.S. from Heidelberg College, followed by a Master’s Degree in mathematics from Columbia University in New York City.

Lloyd began his career as a teacher in 1931, in Mallet Creek. He received a promotion to principal of York School, followed by an appointment as Superintendent of the newly formed Buckeye School District.

Lloyd will be remembered as a loved and respected teacher and administrator. He retired from this position in 1971, after almost 45 years. Lloyd then began a second career working with Gerspacher Real Estate for over 10 years,

Lloyd was a lifetime member of the Medina Kiwanis Breakfast Club, F & AM Medina Lodge #58 and Medina Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Lloyd was the beloved father of Cynthia Naragon of Chippewa Lake; loving grandfather of Kevin Rich of Chippewa Lake, and Zachary Rich of Alston, Massachusetts; and dear brother of Dr. Elwood (Doris) Naragon of Medina. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona (Shumaker) in 1982; and second wife, Elinor (Hayden) in 2003; brother, Harold Naragon; and sisters, Leona Deuring and Pauline Lord.

Lloyd’s family would like to express special thanks to caregiver Lisa Wicks, Medina Meadows, and Dr. Yatish Goyal for their loving care and support of Lloyd.

Services will be held Monday, March 10, 2014, 12:30 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Chaplain Don Verdell will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 2 until 6 P.M., at the funeral home.

Donations may be given to Medina County Hospice, in memory of Lloyd, for their loving help and assistance in his final days.
