MEDINA — The Medina County auditor has been awarded the Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 14,000 government finance professionals. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Ohio Tax Commissioner Joe Testa presented the award to Auditor Mike Kovack on Wednesday.
It was the 21st consecutive year Kovack has received the award.
“I feel this award is a great testimony to the high standards we have established and achieved in this office,” Kovack said.
Kovack credited Sharon Creswell, director of financial reporting for the auditor’s office, for preparing the county’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
“We are especially appreciative of all the hard work and commitment that Sharon devotes to this project each year,” Kovack said.
