James M. Jenkins, Sr., 54, Medina, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 11, 1959, in Cleveland, to the late Creties, Sr. and Marian (nee Schade) Jenkins.
Jim was a longtime resident of Medina County and a 1977 graduate of Buckeye High School. He was a member of the Buckeye FFA, where he received the Greenhand, Star and State Farmer awards.
Jim worked on the family farm all his life. They raised dairy cattle, then beef cattle and grain farmed the land. Jim was a dedicated mechanic for 37 years. There wasn’t any job too small or too big that he couldn’t figure out and fix the problem.
Jim was very proud of all the relationships that were made with all his customers throughout his life. “Always a guy who spoke his mind”, he cared deeply for what he did and those he chose to surround himself.
Jim was very dedicated to his family and will be greatly missed by beloved wife, Mary Beth; son, James Jenkins, Jr.; daughters, Deanna Bruno and Danielle Bruno; brothers, Ed Jenkins, David Jenkins, Tom Jenkins and Creties, Jr. Jenkins.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., Saturday. March 22, 2014, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. At Jim’s request, his body will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend Jim’s Graveside service at 11 A.M., Thursday, March 27, 2014, at York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek, with Reverend Bert Ambrose officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road Medina, OH 44256.
