Thomas A. Rapenchuk, 74, of Rittman, joined his wife in Heaven on Tuesday, March 26, 2014 at Barberton Citizens Hospital, following a period of declining health. Thomas was born September 4, 1939 in Lodi, to William and Marian (Tamas) Rapenchuk and married Joanne Halabrin on January 24, 1959 in Akron, and had celebrated 48 years of marriage together before her death in 2007.
He graduated from Hoban High School in 1957 and worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight for 30 plus years, retiring in 2004.
Surviving are three sons, Christopher Rapenchuk of Wilmington, Jeff Rapenchuk of Ashland, and Steve Rapenchuk of Medina; two daughters, Janet (Dennis) Wilson of Polk, and Pattie Rapenchuk of Rittman; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Rapenchuk; father, William Rapenchuk; and an infant granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 139 S. First St., Rittman, with Father Michael D. Ausperk officiating. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery in Medina. Friends may call Friday, March 28, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman.
