PHOTO: Car overheats, bursts into flames on I-71

Firefighters doused a car fire on Interstate 71 in Montville Township on Tuesday. The call came in about 6 p.m. The driver reported he was northbound when his vehicle began to fill with smoke. By the time firefighters arrived, the 2001 Chrysler Cirrus was fully engulfed and unsalvageable. The fire also spread to nearby grass, but that was extinguished quickly. Medina Assistant Fire Chief Doug Kreuder said the fire was the result of overheating. “There was nothing unusual about it,” Kreuder said. “It was just age.” (PHOTO PROVIDED)
