Selwyn Duane “Bud” Martin, 81, of Carrollton, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Canton, Ohio. He was born April 23, 1932 in Tiltonsville, Ohio, to the late Clarence Selwyn and Helen Irene (Jackson) Martin.
He was a painter by trade, having worked in Akron, Canton, Medina and Carrollton, as well as the states of Virginia, Florida and Georgia, before returning to Ohio in 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel (Finnicum) Kincaid-Martin of Carrollton, whom he married November 24, 1995; two daughters, Diana and her husband, Len Smeltzer of Brookfield, Wisconsin and Denise Martin and her friend, Ken Buskong of Tallmadge, Ohio; three step children, William Kincaid of Carrollton, Karen Kincaid of Louisville, Ohio and Dan Kincaid of Griffith, Indiana; two sisters, Dorrine and her husband, Merriel Burkhead of Copeland Oaks in Sebring, Ohio and Audrey Owens of Brilliant, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leslie Owens; and a nephew, Darren Owens.
Bud’s last wish was to let his loved ones know that he loved them and to remember his laughter, jokes and sense of humor. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.
