Tribe: Rain wins this time

CLEVELAND — The opener of the Indians’ three-game interleague series against the San Diego Padres at Progressive Field on Monday was postponed by rain.

With San Diego scheduled for an off day Thursday and this being the Padres’ only trip of the season to Cleveland, the game will be made up as a traditional doubleheader Wednesday.

The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 12:05 p.m., with the nightcap to follow 20 minutes after the completion of Game 1.

It is the Indians’ second rainout in seven scheduled games to start the season, and they will play their second doubleheader. Cleveland was rained out in Oakland last Tuesday and played a doubleheader the following day.
