Ex-worker must pay back $24K for gadgets, gift cards

MEDINA — A former employee of Wadsworth’s Target store has been ordered to pay nearly $24,000 in restitution to the store for falsifying receipts and discount coupons.

Alyssa Olenzak, 22, of Rittman, also was placed on five years of probation Monday after pleading guilty in February to a count of complicity to commit theft.

Medina County Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. Collier could have sentenced Olenzak to up to 1ᄑ years in prison.

According to Wadsworth police reports, Target loss prevention officers began investigating Olenzak after finding a receipt for two Nikon cameras and other items with a 2-cent payment.

Further investigation revealed other falsified receipts and coupons for other Nikon cameras, iPods, iPads, laptops computers, cell phones, Visa and Target gift cards and other items amounting to $23,596.90.
