Hubert R. “Hub” “Papa Smurf” VanDeusen, 84, of Hinckley, most recently of McLaughlin, South Dakota, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014. He was born September 9, 1929. He was the son of Martin and Irma VanDeusen of Hinckley.
Hubert was the owner of the Hinckley Shell gas station for several years. He enjoyed working on cars. He loved antique cars, fire engines and showing his Model T Ford off in parades. He also drove semi trucks for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Kuzior; son, Martin Anthony “Troll” VanDeusen; sister, Dottie Rigsbee; step-son, Michael Kovacic; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hurbert is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jesse Andrew VanDeusen; sisters, Betty Riffle and Earleen Anderson.
Memorial Service will be set at a later time.
