John “Jack” A. Hawke, 72, of Litchfield, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014. Jack was born February 7, 1942 in Elyria, to the late Kenneth and Esther (nee Frombaugh) Hawke. He lived in Columbia Station for most of his life and moved to Litchfield in 1996.
He worked 30 years for Columbia Gas of Ohio in Medina County.
Jack enjoyed archery, gardening and working in his yard. He loved to watch birds and cared greatly for his companion cats. Jack was a very giving and gentle man. He cared deeply for his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by a brother, Jerry (Carol) Hawke, of Lodi; and a sister, Janet (Bob) Plato of Litchfield; nieces and nephews, Beth (Ted) Parks, Kelly (Bob) Blake, Dan Hawke (fiancee Vanessa), Jennifer (Eric) Hayden, Julie (Jeff) Futch and Joy (Ray) Krankowski; 11 great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
A private immediate family gathering will be held at the Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Columbia Township Cemetery.
