Evelyn G. Dwyer, 97, of Medina, passed away peacefully in her home, Wednesday, March 26, 2014. She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on April 16, 1916, to the late William and Clara Minnie (Wolters) Hormann.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially bridge. She was an avid golfer and was always so proud of her hole-in-one trophy. Evelyn was a master at needlepoint and left behind many cherished hand-made heirlooms. She loved traveling and lived in many places throughout her life, the majority living in the northern part of California. She spent the last six years living in Medina in order to be close to her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her grandson, Christopher (Laura) Kanieski; her beloved great-grand daughter, Ava; and many nieces and nephews. She contributes her long healthy life to the power of positive thinking.
Evelyn was the last survivor of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Dwyer of 65 years; and her only child, Cheryl Ann (Dwyer) Kanieski.
Evelyn lived a life many would only dream of living – aull life that is worthy of great celebration. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to so many. She will be dearly missed and always remembered for her positive attitude, love of life, and great advice.
Friends may call Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 5 until 7 P.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, with a memorial service to immediately follow the visitation at 7 P.M. A reception at the funeral home will be held at the conclusion of the service. Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in California.
