Jeanette Whittenberger, 87, formerly of Creston, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Meadowview Care Center in Seville, following a period of declining health. Jean was born July 30, 1926, in Cuyahoga Falls, to the late Charles and Sarah (Garner) Blewitt and was a 1944 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.
She married Walter Whittenberger July 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2001. She worked at Brunswick City Schools from 1960-1972 and later at the Westfield Companies. She was the first Medina Police Dispatcher. Jean was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church and always enjoyed people, dancing and music.
Surviving are her three sons, Danny (Elizabeth) Whittenberger of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Gary (Sharon) Whittenberger of Massillon and Dana (Cheryl) Whittenberger of Chippewa Lake; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Larry and Richard.
Services will be Sunday, April 27, 2014, 2 P.M., at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with Reverend Dr. Edward Kropa officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
