PHOTO: National Day of Prayer brings Medina County residents together

Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell leads a prayer at Williams on the Lake, 787 Lafayette Road, at a National Day of Prayer breakfast Thursday morning. More than 90 people attended the event. In his prayer, Hanwell thanked God that he and the attendees lived in a country where they could practice religion freely. The breakfast was the first of several in celebration of the national day of observance, which was decreed by Congress in 1952. At noon, prayer events were held at the gazebo in downtown Wadsworth and at United Church of Christ, 217 E. Liberty St., Medina. Closing out the day was a 7 p.m. worship service at Cornerstone Chapel, 3939 Granger Road, Medina Township. (NICK GLUNT / GAZETTE)
