Harold Matthew Kidd, 82, of Medina, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, with his family by his side. Harold was born January 1, 1932, in Sissonville, West Virginia, to the late Matthew and Arna Kidd. He resided in Sissonville for 20 years, moved to Cleveland, following his service in the military and ultimately moved to Medina, where he has resided for 45 years.
Harold was self-employed as a water well driller and water hauler in Medina. Prior to starting his own business in 1974, he worked for Mural and Sons as a house mover and Midland Steel as a crane operator in Cleveland.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. Harold was an avid gardener, devoting many hours tending to his beautiful flowers for all to enjoy. He enjoyed working on his family genealogy tree, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years, Corinne Kidd (nee Miller); children, Shirley (Terry) Naylor, William (Deborah) Kidd and Scott Kidd; grandchildren, Crystal Simpson, Heidi Wickerham, Hunter Magen, Jason Gibbs, Sheri McGee, Scottie Lee Kidd and Brittany “Katie” Kidd; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron and Brendan Simpson, Olivia Wickerham, Ethan and Grace Gibbs, Allison McGee and LaNycia Kidd; and brothers, Russell and Oscar Kidd.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Pamela Kidd Magen; and sisters, Maxine Bailey, Edith Hunter, Helen Workman and Patsy McNeely.
Harold’s family will receive friends Monday, May 5, 2014, from 1 until 2 P.M., at Medina United Methodist Church, 4747 Foote Road in Medina. Services will follow at 2 P.M., with Pastor David J. Tennant officiating. Harold will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
