MEDINA — A 21-year-old Lodi man pleaded guilty Monday to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in December.

Robert Shane pleaded to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, punishable by up to 1½ years in prison. Medina County Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. Collier set Shane’s sentencing for June 16.

Shane was arrested in January after a two-week investigation. He was accused of having sex with the girl on Dec. 21 in his car, which was parked in his driveway on Howe Street.

Lodi Police Chief Keith Keough said the activity was consensual. Police only became aware of the incident after the girl told someone.

In addition to the sex charge, Shane faces possible additional penalties for violating probation.

He was sentenced to five years of probation in February 2013 after pleading guilty to burglary.
