The Medina post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, in partnership with Feeding Medina County, is hosting a “Can the Cruiser” food drive 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Buehler’s, 3688 Center Road.
“Our hope is to fill the cruisers with food to help combat the hunger problem in Medina County,” said Lt. William P. Haymaker, commander of the patrol’s Medina post.
Donations also will be accepted at the Medina post, 3149 Frantz Road, near the state Route 3/Interstate 71 interchange in Medina Township, until May 25.
The following items are most needed:
• Spaghetti, meatballs, ravioli and lasagna
• Stews and soups
• Peanut butter
• Cereal, rice and pasta
• Dried beans
• Canned fruit/fruit cups, dried fruit (raisins, plums, cranberries)
• 100 percent juice and juice boxes
• Canned vegetables
• Kid-friendly items like fat-free, sugar-free pudding cups, granola bars, popcorn, graham and/or animal crackers.
