Dorothy went on to become a 30 year elementary school teacher, all in The Middletown City School District, and was passionate about her profession and her students. Dorothy was a mentor to many. While at Miami, Dorothy was very involved, having been President of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Epsilon, and University Club, and was later affiliated with Delta Zeta. Dorothy was a lifelong active member of The First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Harold Sherron, in 1948, and they spent over 55 wonderful years together, flying their airplane throughout the western hemisphere, with Dorothy as Hal’s co-pilot, all while raising three loving children. Dorothy was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren, as well.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Jennifer A. (husband, Ed “Buz”) Hiteshue of Medina; one son, James E. (wife, Melanie) Sherron of Middletown; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, William and Nancy Hiteshue, Nicholas, Luke and Allison Sherron; brother, Dale (Janice) Petry of Newton, New Jersey; and sister-in-law, Karen Petry of Newark, Delaware.
