Emily Augusta (nee Helwig) Heyse, 83, of Valley City, passed onto her heavenly home, Monday, May 12, 2014. She was born April 21, 1931 in Columbus, to the late Daniel Paul Clifford Hedwig and Novella Genevieve Alloway Helwig. Emily was a 1949 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School and a 1953 graduate of Capital University with a BS in Education. She taught two years at Lincoln Park Elementary, Columbus and one year at Forestview Elementary in Bay Village, prior to raising her family.
Emily was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Valley City and a member of Capital University Alumni Association. She enjoyed volunteering at a number of nursing homes – Patrician, North Royalton, Life Care of Medina, East Park Care Center, Brook Park, Southwest Hospital and Century Oak Care Center, Middleburg Hts.
Emily will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter; children, Fred Heyse, Rachel (Jacob) Martin, Paul Heyse, Albert (Nancy) Heyse and Arthur (Annmarie) Heyse; grandchildren, Alexander, Anthony, Alyssa, Jessica (Adam) Wunderle, Rebecca, Erich, Miles, Erin and Lauren and one special great-grandchild is expected in December; and brother-in-law,Herbert (Mary) Heyse.
She was preceded in death by a brother, T. James (Gail) Helwig.
Funeral Service will be 10 A.M., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City, with Reverend Horst Hoyer officiating. Burial will be at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Valley City. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 14, 2014, 6 until 9 P.M., at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Habit for Humanity, St. Paul Lutheran Church or Parma Hospital Hospice.
