MEDINA — A Rittman man will be sentenced next week for violating probation while in a drug rehabilitation program in Wayne County.
Justin Ott, 27, admitted at a Tuesday hearing in Medina County Common Pleas Court that he used heroin and marijuana with a woman in the program last month and this month.
Judge Christopher J. Collier said his recent actions echo a similar series of events when Ott was in a rehab program in Medina County last year.
“You found the most vulnerable woman there and cut her out of the pack,” Collier told Ott. “Just like in this program, you did exactly what they told you not to do.”
Ott’s attorney, Michael Callow, asked the judge to enter the Lorain/Medina Community Based Correctional Facility in Elyria, a rehab facility.
“Absolutely not,” he said. “There are women there, too.”
The judge said he was favoring prison for Ott.
“I’m thinking a prison sentence, and a significant one at that,” he told Ott. “There are other women out there that you will victimize.”
Collier delayed the sentencing a week so he could weigh the options and asked Ott if there was anything he wanted to say.
“I messed up,” said Ott, who’s being held at the county jail.
“It wasn’t a mess-up,” Collier said. “You did exactly what you meant to do and got exactly what you wanted.
