MONTVILLE TWP. — Township resident John E. Rapasky, 50, of Preserve Run Circle, died in a Memorial Day motorcycle crash on East Smith Road, police said.

Rapasky died after his 2005 Honda Rune went off the road near S-curves just west of Champion Creek Boulevard at 12:08 p.m. Monday.

The crash was about a half-mile from his home, Sgt. Matthew Neil said. Rapasky was traveling east on East Smith Road when he went off the right side of the road.

“According to witnesses, he wasn’t going any excessive speed,” Neil said. “He just lost control, was ejected from the bike and his body struck a sign.”

Rapasky, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, suffered head trauma and internal injuries and was transported to Medina Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is the fourth fatal crash and fifth traffic death in the county this year. In 2013, Medina County recorded two deaths in two crashes.
