John C. Friedt, 79, of Wadsworth, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014. He was born in Wadsworth to the late Millard E. and Vera (Newcomer) Friedt.
He graduated from Wadsworth High School and worked as a skilled carpenter all of his life, most recently for the Wadsworth Sash and Door.
John was always helping others and was very active in the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church. He at one time worked for Guilford Township, was a 4-H leader and an avid sports fan. He opened his home to many foster children.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou (Kreider) Friedt; daughters, Kathy (Tim) Magner of Richfield, Karen Brandon of Houston, Texas, Danielle Friedt of Lodi; son, Karl Friedt of Wadsworth; brother, James (Jan) Friedt of South Carolina; sister, Janet (Glenn) Hoerger of Wadworth; grandchildren, Sarah, Mary, Aaron, Kayla, Mitchell and Annabel; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Parker and Bryson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; brothers-in-law, Dale Kreider and Gene Fulton.
Service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ed Kropa officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, May 30, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and 1 hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
