Max B. Emmons

OBIT FLAGMax B. Emmons, 80, of Lodi, passed away suddenly Monday, June 9, 2014, at his home. He was born October 24, 1933, in Harlan, Michigan, to Louis A. and Neva Rosetta (North) Emmons.

His family moved to Lafayette, where he grew up and graduated from Lodi High School in 1951.

He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1956. He married Patricia Wright on June 7, 1958 and they moved to Lodi shortly thereafter. Max was a truck driver for Don Grimm Trucking, Kaplan Trucking, and was Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for Sandridge Food Corporation. After retiring, he worked for the Village of Lodi for another seven years.

He was an avid stock car racer, racing his Car #96 at Lakeville and Hilltop Speedways. He also enjoyed the local coffee and opinion tables at Pearl’s and the Hob Nob.

Surviving are his daughter, Jan (Tim) Powalie of Lodi; son, Jeff (Cindy) Emmons of Lodi; grandsons, Michael, Nate, Brooks, and Graham; sister, Joyce (Bob) Davis of Lodi; brothers, Dale (Lenore) Emmons of Medina, Neal (Ruth) Emmons of Norwood, Georgia, Gordon (Cheryl) Emmons of Lakeland, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2014, at 11 A.M., in the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Pastor Pat Eddington will officiate. Burial will follow at Westfield Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., at the funeral home.
