Roberta Jean Jackson, 59, of Sterling, formerly of Canaan, died peacefully at her home on Friday, June 13, 2014 following a lengthy illness. Roberta was born December 19, 1954 in Lodi to the late Russel and Arleene (Dull) Jackson.
She was a 1973 graduate of Norwayne High School and had worked at Horn’s Nursing Home and at Kintner’s Restaurant in Wooster. Roberta was an active member of Canaan United Methodist Church and attended Smithville United Methodist Church where she helped with various projects and with Vacation Bible School. She loved horses and was active in 4-H and always enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, piecing quilts, doing crafts and canning. She was always a great help to her Mother and loved to baby sit for her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Sue Jackson with whom she made her home for the past seven years; nieces and nephews, Brian Rhea, Teresa Kelley, Michael Rhea, Michele Hoskinson, Jody Shaw and Kara Kauffman; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her fiancée, Albert Warner; sister and brother-in-law, Ginnie and Roland Rhea; and a great-nephew.
Service will be Wednesday, June 18 at 11 A.M. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. D. Josh Arrington officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, June 17 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
