Auditor accepting appeals on Medina County property values

Mike Kovack

Mike Kovack

Medina County Auditor Mike Kovack will accept informal property value appeals through Oct. 3.

Kovack said because the appeals are informal, no official documents will be submitted and no in-person hearings will be conducted.

To apply, residents must provide written statements regarding why their properties should be valued less.

“Typically, we are looking at sales agreements, appraisals for loan purposes and those type of documents,” Kovack said. “But you could also submit your own review of similar sales in your neighborhood.”

He said the informal review process is a cheaper, easier and more efficient alternative to the formal process, which is available between Jan. 1 and March 31 each year.

“We find most of these appeals are ones we’d be agreeing to during the formal process anyway,” Kovack said, “so it’s a huge time-savings to my staff.”

Property owners must submit their informal appeals through mail to 144 N. Broadway St., Medina, or they can email auditor@medinacountyauditor.org. All decisions will be released no later than Nov. 14.

You idiot! An employee Kovach was going to fire accused him of making a handful of copies that were political – and he paid for them! Those slimey commissioners just did all this for political purposes. You want to talk Russo-Dimora, think Burke (convicted), Wadsworth (convicted) and Geissman/Hambley/Friedrick – they should be convicted for using government staff to run their charity ball. And Kovach makes the headlines – only in Medina!
