Rigard_RichardOBIT FLAGRichard W. Rigard, 74, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Cleveland. Richard was born November 12, 1939 in Rochester, New York, to the late Aloysius and Mary (Hayes) Rigard.

He was an operating engineer for Stein Inc. in Cleveland, and retired after 18 years of service. Richard was a member of Local 18 Ohio Operating Engineers, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Medina and the Loyal Order of the Moose, where he earned the prestigious Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia (Peer); children, Richard (Alicia) Rigard, Michele (William) McBride, Duane (Michelle Phillips) Rigard, Daniel Rigard, and Cynthia (Mike) Velotta; grandchildren, Jennifer (Phil) Huttner, Chantae (Ben) Metzloff, Holly, Hillary, Randy, Tyler, Meghan and Brady Rigard, Nathan Velotta, Amanda (Chuck) Hollan and Ashlee McBride; great-grandchildren, Alissa, Adalee, Charlie and Keegan; sister, Carol (Albert) Aratari; sisters-in-law, Pamela (Jim) Peris and Penny Lewandowski; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and James Peer; and brother-in-law, Lenny Lewandowski.

Services for Richard will be held 12 Noon, Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Military burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 3 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Monday in the funeral home.
