Barbara K. Heilman

Heilman_BarbaraBarbara K. Heilman, 73, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Hospice of Medina County, following a five month courageous fight with cancer. She was born December 10, 1940, in Lodi, to Howard and Verna (Ramsier) Allen. She grew up in Homerville and graduated from Homerville High School in 1958.

She married Grover Heilman on July 16, 1961; he survives.

Barbara worked at Mack’s Food Center in Lodi, and was currently employed at Whirlaway in Wellington, where she had worked for the past 27 years. She loved taking care of her flower beds, and her beloved dog, Buddy. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, and camping at Prairie Lane Park in Wooster.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Grover, are her children, Tammy (Chris) Hensel of Fredericksburg, Sandy (Tim) Fisher of Shreve, Richard A. (Dawn) Heilman of Spencer; six grandchildren, Stefan (Jordan) Hensel, Cody, Molly, Nicole, Erin, and Samantha Heilman; great-grandson, Larrik Hensel; sisters, Pauline Faulkner of Lodi, Jean Roberts of Canton, Betty Heeter of West Salem, Doris (Fred) Boreman of Spencer, Wilma (Dick) Miller of Grovetown, Georgia; brother, Robert (Barb) Allen of Medina; many nieces and nephews; and life-long friends, Dave and Elaine Liedorff of Wellington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Archer; brother, Walter Allen; and brothers-in-law, Lee Faulkner and Gail Archer.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 1 P.M., at New Horizons Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Rd., Homerville. The Reverend Dr. Deborah Michaels will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2014, from 2 until 4 and 6 utnil 8 P.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Spencer, (330-648-2180).
