“Harvest in a Jar” Program Covers Canning, Seed-Saving, and More

CanningJarsHave excess produce from your garden?  Want to extend all the fresh, local fruits and vegetables through the dreary winter?  Join the OSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers to learn how to preserve your harvest for next season.

The program, entitled “Harvest in a Jar,” is scheduled Thursday, August 14, 2014, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Guilford Township Hall located at 3800 Greenwich Rd., Seville, OH44273.  Sign-in will start at 5:30 P.M.

Master Gardener volunteers and OSU Extension experts will demonstrate how to can and preserve produce properly and safely, how to save seeds from your favorite produce and flowers to use next year, and also see some creative décor ideas using what you have in the yard and leftover mason jars.  Whether you grow your own or like to stock up from the Farmers’ Market, you can use what you have for year round enjoyment!  Light refreshments will be served and door prizes distributed.

Pre-registration is required. Cost is $15.00 per person OR save by bringing a friend.  Cost for two people registering together is $25.00.  Registration forms can be found online at medina.osu.edu under events.  You can also visit facebook.com/MedinaMGV.
