Rita M. Thomas, 84, of Rittman, formerly of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Smithville-Western Care Center following a period of declining health. She was born September 1, 1929, to the late Louis and Margaret (Keegan) Kundtz in Cleveland.
She graduated from Parma Senior High School in 1948 and shortly after married the late Robert Thomas. She was employed as the cafeteria manager for the Brunswick City Schools for 25 years before her retirement in 1992.
Rita enjoyed cooking, ballroom dancing, animals, following Cleveland sports teams and most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons, Bruce (Denise) Thomas of Rittman, Bill (Vicki) Thomas of Brunswick and Brian (Joy) Thomas of Wadsworth; sister, Donna Eleck of Brunswick; brother, Chuck (Sarah) Kundtz of Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1972 and her son, Bob Thomas in 1986.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, July 11, 2014 at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman, with Father Joseph Labak officiating. Inurnment will take place at Eastlawn Memory Gardens.
