Edward Otanicar is Altercare of Wadsworth’s Latest Therapy Superstar

EdOtanicarWhen Ed Otanicar came to Altercare of Wadsworth with chronic, low-back sacrum pain, he thought he would never bowl again. This 85 year old had been an avid bowler for most of his life and, having bowled all over Akron, he couldn’t fathom the thought of not being able to meet his fellow league bowlers once again. That’s when he shot into action and called upon Altercare of Wadsworth to help him get back to his previous functional level.

Ed is definitely a man that likes to remain on the go. He began his career with the Wadsworth Police Department in 1952 and then made a career change to the trucking industry, ending up retiring from Consolidate Freightways in 1991. Ed and his wife of 45 years raised four boys in Wadsworth and now he is blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During his short-term stay at Altercare of Wadsworth, Ed received intense physical and occupational therapies six days a week, which strengthened his body core until he was able to get back to independent status. Now Ed is back to bowling, meeting his buddies at the local restaurant in his hometown and loving his beautiful grandbabies.  Ed said, “Therapy at Altercare of Wadsworth was great! Good people there, especially Jared, LPTA, along with his therapy intern. Altercare got me back to my functioning level.”
