Gerald B. Bammerlin, 67, of Chatham Township, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Akron General Medical Center, following a short illness. He was born July 15, 1946, in Cleveland, to Wilbur and Doris (McGonagle) Bammerlin.
He graduated from Parma High School and later received his degree in Education from The Ohio State University and Baldwin Wallace College.
Gerald was a teacher at St. Francis in Medina and St. James in Columbus. He was later the Principal in the Norton School District for 10 years. Following his retirement, his life-long love for horses kept him very active in operating his J Bam Horse Farm in Chatham.
Surviving are his brother, Ken Bammerlin of Lodi; nieces, Jennifer (Roger) Hollstegge, Amy Bammerlin; nephew, Brian (Amy) Bammerlin; six great nieces and nephews and fiancee, Sharon Schaefer of Kent.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 21, 2014, at 3 P.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Pastor Brian Amstutz will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 2 until 3 P.M., at the funeral home.
