A semitrailer cab being scrapped caught fire just before 9 a.m. Wednesday at UV Truck Sales, 1041 Lake Road. Fire Chief Robert Painter said employees of UV Truck Sales were using a torch to cut up the cab, which was one of two cabs on a flat-bed trailer. He said the men walked away for a few minutes and returned to find the cab fully engulfed in flames. “A piece of hot metal must have ignited something else in the truck,” Painter said. He said the fire was quickly put out and no one was injured. The call came in at 8:59 a.m. and four fire trucks responded, Painter said. (KATIE ANDERSON / GAZETTE)
