6/15/16 UPDATE: According to Medina Municipal Court records, McBryer was found guilty of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, but an additional charge related to a breath test she took that show a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.17 was dismissed. A charge alleging she failed to maintain an assured distance between vehicles was also dismissed.
MONTVILLE TWP. — A Summit County woman was arrested on drunken driving charges Wednesday night following a crash on Interstate 71 south.
Sarah McBryer, 40, of Silver Lake, had blood-alcohol content greater than 0.17 — more than double the legal limit, according to misdemeanor charges filed in Medina Municipal Court. She also is charged with failing to maintain an assured distance between vehicles.
The Medina post of the Ohio Highway Patrol reported McBryer’s vehicle collided with a semitrailer south of state Route 18 at about 11 p.m. Wednesday. Her vehicle then spun off the road and into the median, where it caught on fire.
Only one lane was open in each direction following the crash. Montville Township police, the Medina Fire Department and Montville EMS also responded to the accident and were able to clear and reopen the lanes by about 1 a.m.
The semi driver was not injured, according to the patrol.
A patrol dispatcher said McBryer refused medical treatment and was taken to the Medina County Jail.
McBryer is scheduled to be arraigned July 25 in Medina Municipal Court and is free on a signature bond.
