Medina woman dies in single-vehicle crash

Alcohol use may to be blame for a fatal crash in Grafton Township early this morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Corrine Reid, 25, of Medina was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty southbound on Cowley Road at about 2 a.m. when she drove off the right side of the road, according to a release from the Highway Patrol. She re-entered the road, lost control, and slid off the right side, hitting a ditch. The vehicle overturned, and Reid was ejected. The vehicle struck a utility pole and several trees before stopping on its top.

Reid was transported by Grafton Township Fire Department to University Hospital Elyria Medical Center, where she died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

Speed, alcohol and seat belt use are considered factors in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol. Reid was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
